Early Morning Conditions Report for Sunday, February 05, 2023
Operating Hours: 9 AM to 4 PM
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Amid a rapidly changing forecast today I can only give you my usual snapshot of what the weather forecast looks like when I write this report. As this is generally sometime around 5 AM there is a bit of a time difference between when I write it and when you arrive at Hoodoo. While generally not much of a problem the last couple weeks have definitely thrown some curve balls into the mix with rapidly changing forecasts and forecasts missing the mark. As much as I would like to shake my fist at the National Weather Service, (which I would never do because I think they are awesome) the reality is that we have hit that time of year when the storms track pretty close to directly over us and just a little change in the track of those storm centers can make a huge difference in what happens on the ground. So instead of shaking my fist I’d like to take a moment to express my thanks to the awesome folks at the National Weather Service. Their hard work and late hours help keep us informed and update us when weather hazards are imminent. Heck, they are even so on top of things that they sometimes change the forecast several times a night. Thanks all!
As of 4 AM today’s forecast still shows 2 to 4 inches of snow expected overnight with another 8 to 12 inches forecasted for today and yet another 3 to 5 inches for tonight. After an overnight low of 28° today’s temperature will top out around 32°. While that is chilly for most it is a bit on the warm side for snow so expect the snow to be on the heavy side. The winds will play another prominent role in today’s story with winds out of the southwest around 20 miles per hour with gusts close to 40. Definitely expect wind drifts and poor visibility.
As with any day with wind drifts and poor visibility it is likely there will be no easy way down from the top for beginners.
We’ve hoped, we’ve waited, and it's finally time! After a few years of being closed our Audubon tube hill is finally back! We still don’t have enough snow to run the tube tow but we are open to come on up and play on the hill today and tomorrow. We’ve got just three lanes but we’ve still got all the fun. Join us this weekend and enjoy all the walk-up tubing you can handle for just $16!!
The snow keeps trickling in but we’re still not up to snow levels we would consider “normal” so please keep an eye out for both marked and unmarked hazards as we work to build up our base. Snow dances are always appreciated. Bonus points if you do them in your snow pants.

There is currently no sledding allowed anywhere on the Hoodoo property.
The Autobahn tube hill is closed.
Base: 50 inches as of 4 AM
New Snow: As of 4 AM we have just a dusting of new snow since yesterday but it is snowing hard (and a little sideways.)
Skiing surfaces: Skiing surfaces are power-tilled and will be covered with varying layers of fresh drifted snow.
Keep checking this page for the latest updates and conditions and thanks for coming to play at Hoodoo!
* Please note: This page is updated by a Hoodoo groomer. We do our best to have the report out by 6 AM but in instances of extreme snow or difficult grooming conditions this page may not be updated until after Hoodoo opens. As much as I love bringing you the information you need, sometimes getting terrain open for you takes the higher priority. On those days the report will be updated as soon as possible.
