Conditions report for Monday, January 20, 2025
Operating Hours: 9 AM to 4 PM
Good morning everyone! Today we celebrate the late, great, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. An activist and visionary, Dr. King dedicated his life to fighting for equal rights for all humans. Though we still have a long way to go in realizing his dreams, we have come a tremendously long way since Dr. King left this world. Today we honor his memory and hold space for those dedicated to making the world a better place for all of its inhabitants. Of course, in true Hoodoo style, we are doing so by bringing all those that come an extra day of skiing. It was quite chilly last night here at Hoodoo and at 9 AM it has warmed up to a whopping 16°. Fortunately we’ve got another beautiful, sunny day headed your way today, however, the forecast is calling for breezy conditions so make sure you have a way to cover exposed skin until things warm up a bit.
Ski surfaces are fast and firm today and will likely remain so throughout the day today.
The light, fluffy powder isn’t headed our way quite yet but it’s never too early to be thinking about snow immersion suffocation. Suffocation can happen any time the snow is sufficiently deep to fall and wind up underneath it without the ability to get up. This is especially likely in tree wells or anywhere the terrain can trap you upside down. Please use extreme caution or avoid tree areas completely when the snow gets super deep, make sure to keep track of your buddies, and know before you go. The right information may save the life of you or your friend or loved one. Check out deepsnowsafety.org to find out more.
